Born and raised on a cattle ranch in Oklahoma, James Joseph Mayer (known worldwide as "Jimmy") found his passion for acting shortly after he was sent to military school and got involved in the theater department. What happened next feels like a blur. One moment, he found himself in New York City studying acting, the next he was taking supporting roles in dramatic off-Broadway shows, and then he was reading the first New York Times review to mention his name and call him a 'rising star'. Now in his early 30's, Jimmy has been swallowed up by Hollywood. He's making good money, seeing his star take off, and watching his privacy begin to fade with increasing recognition. He often retreats to his Malibu home, his books, his car, his drums, his gym, and anything else he can find to keep himself contented between projects.

But the world doesn't lend itself to hanging around and enjoying success. To go from milking cows and feeding the chickens to looking at the world from the dizzying heights of stardom is not something Jimmy was ever prepared for. The rest of the world is full of bigotry, violence, poverty, exploitation, and death. Even as a public figure, he feels helpless to fix the wrongs in an unjust world. And he'll get on a soapbox, go overseas, even make his own socially conscious movies if he has to. Just anything to make him feel like more than a tabloid darling.

Jimmy is headstrong, rebellious, and free-spirited. He loves teasing and playing practical jokes. He's also moody, introspective and vulnerable. He's wary of getting too close to other people, and he has nothing but contempt for authority. He can be a bit temperamental on set, but show him some compassion and understanding, and he'll come back down to Earth.
